Flying in Float planes

From the dock, you will fly over sprawling woodlands, rocky hills, and pristine landscapes to the remote lakes on your Canada fly-in fishing trip. The floatplane will take you to your lodge or fishing area, where you can begin your angling adventure. There are a myriad of lakes in Northwestern Ontario, and the float plane is ideally suited to transport anglers to and from these remote, otherwise inaccessible wilderness lodges and outposts.
Weight and volume are two key considerations when traveling in a float plane. Unlike commercial airliners, float planes have relatively small cabins that can accommodate from as few as two anglers and gear up to the larger Cessna 208 Caravan aircraft, which can accommodate up to a maximum of eight anglers. Passengers’ baggage can be restricted to a maximum of 50 – 75 lbs per person. Large rod tubes for long, one-piece rods, may not fit in the cabin, so two-piece bait casting or spinning rods, or 3 or 4-piece travel fly rods are a good choice when flying into a remote lodge or outpost.
